“Raising Parents: Coping with Stress” – A New Project Supporting Parents in Alba and Sibiu Counties
The Center for Personal Development and Combating Risk Behaviors, also known as Psiho Kit, is implementing the project “Raising Parents” between March 2025 and August 2026. The project is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action KA210-ADU – Small-Scale Partnerships in Adult Education, project no. 2024-2-RO01-KA210-ADU-000290814.
Through this project, the association aims to utilize funding opportunities to develop and implement a program for parents of children facing emotional difficulties. The project will be carried out within a multicultural partnership involving the Association Center for Personal Development and Combating Risk Behaviors from Romania, the Eskişehir Social Innovation and Development Association from Turkey, and the Italian organization Cooperativa Sociale EDI - Onlus Educazione ai Diritti dell’Infanzia e dell’Adolescenza.
As part of the project, 12 facilitators from the three partner organizations will participate in a training workshop in Italy, where they will enhance their skills in using experiential methods with adults, organizational and planning abilities, collaboration and teamwork, as well as socio-emotional competences. The intercultural nature of the team will further enrich this experience and multiply its benefits.
“When children go through difficult times, we, as parents, experience high levels of stress. This stress, in turn, makes it harder for children to cope with their challenges, creating a vicious cycle. Often, the difficult situations we face overwhelm us and cause us to become more irritable, critical, or to react more harshly than we intend. This can lead to tension within the family and worsen children’s emotional difficulties or behavioral problems. Our project aims to break this cycle. By developing and implementing a program for parents of children with emotional challenges, we aim to provide the resources and support necessary for adopting stress management strategies and positive parenting practices.”
The main activities of the project include:
• Transnational Meeting: To be held in Alba Iulia on May 5–6, 2025, bringing together the three partner organizations. This meeting will foster intercultural exchange, allow for the presentation of each organization and best practices, and result in the creation of working methods and tools for project activities and results, as well as coordination and reporting strategies.
• Workshop: Experiential Methods in Working with Parents: This will take place in Rome, Italy, on June 23–25, 2025, and aims to develop facilitators’ skills in working with parents of children with emotional challenges using experiential methods. A total of 12 participants, 4 from each partner organization, will attend. During this activity, the facilitators will co-create a board game to support families’ socio-emotional development and prepare a practical guide for adult education professionals aiming to foster healthy parent-child relationships.
• Development and Implementation of the Parenting Program: The program will be conducted between November 2025 and March 2026 for 20 parents in each partner country. It will consist of six workshops covering the following topics: exploring emotional challenges, experiential techniques for stress and crisis management, enhancing parent-child communication, and building resilience.
The expected outcomes of the project include developing parenting skills through experiential methods, supporting parents in managing stress and emotions, and fostering more harmonious family relationships.
